Students submitted their "snapshot" then got 2 more details about the project. 1, the criteria for the postcard, which will be due on Tuesday, and 2, an example of the writing. Students were also asked to identify verb forms used in the example by using a different color highlighter for each form: le présent (jaune) , le futur proche (rose), le passé composé (bleu) et l'imparfait (vert). The draft of the writing is due on Thursday, June 7.

Today student worked on a "snapshot" of their travel plans. This should include an image of the central place you plan to visit with 3 -5 sentences in the present tense telling general information about the area or city. It should also include 3-5 specific places, sites or monuments you are going to visit during your stay. These images should be captioned as well and you write at least one sentence using aller + infinitive. The Popplet app works pretty well for this assignment. An example is below.

After the film fest we did a cloze activity based on a story told by the lovely and adorable Mme Laplanche. She is remembering being a kid at her elementary school in Lyon. If you were absent, download the file, watch the video and fill in the missing words. If you were in class and just want to watch it again, here it is for you viewing pleasure.
|
|
Mardi, 22 mai
Students finished editing their "très court métrage" then uploaded the file to Schoology. Film fest is tomorrow, so if you didn't get yours finished, you'll definitely want to do that after school today or before school on Wednesday. (Or submit it from home.) Next, we added a verb chart to the back of the cahier (pg. 93) to help us remember some necessary verb forms. Finally, the assignment students did while Mme Morgan was here got returned, along with page for making the corrections. The corrections are due at the beginning of class on Wednesday.
Lundi, 21 mai
Students who didn't finish the assignment from Friday (when Mme Morgan was here) turned it in today. If you were absent last Friday, pick up a copy in class. Next groups filmed their court métrage.
Jeudi, 17 mai
After watching this chouette video that shows the difference between the passé composé and the imparfait, pairs (or trios) of students started making their own. Say 2 things that used to be, (imparfait) then one thing that happened (passé composé) and the result of what happened (passé composé). Get your sentences checked before filming. I will be gone on Friday, so plan on filming/editing on Monday, doing a few final touches on Tuesday and having a film fest Wednesday!

Ah, La Bicyclette! We listened to the Yves Montand classic to get a good idea about one way the imparfait is used to express past actions. The homework (Bicylette.pdf) requires looking at the lyrics to find certain elements.

We were introduced to Sousbucks today. Students had a chance to fix errors on their quizzes, which is part of what entitles them to do a retake. The other part is by practicing at Conjuguemos or coming in for help. The last day for a retake is Friday, May 11 during Bear Time.
After that, we went to Quizizz to review the "nous" form of verbs. If you were absent, you can try your luck here: https://join.quizizz.com

The partner also asked a 6th question (from the list). Students were to give no "one word" answers, and when finished, reversed roles. Not everyone was able to finish today, but since Mr Ramsay will be here for the next two days, we will pick up again on Monday.

And if you don't know the English for the infinitive, check out the quizlet sets.

We enjoyed the many versions of Oncle Hector, and then got a couple of vocabulary assignments. The first is a crossword puzzle based on the Quizlet set, the second is to categorize he same set of vocabulary in the chart.
|
|
Lundi, 12 février - mardi, 13 février
We played a little Quizlet Live, a little Kahoot and then got into groups to start work on the next phase of Oncle Hector. Imagine you live in an alternate universe, one in which the tale of Tante Victoire and Oncle Hector has been suspended in mid-crisis. How would YOU resolve this story? Working in groups of 2-4 people, students will write a dialog inventing their own ending to Oncle Hector. The plan is to act out these endings during class on Wednesday. Lines do not need to be memorized, but each student needs his or her own copy of the skit. (Write it in a Google Doc!) Each student should have a minimum of 4 lines--real lines, not "Bonjour, ça va?"--and can have more as needed. Write in French from the outset, and if you introduce any new words, make sure you give lots of context so we can all understand them.
Vendredi, 9 février
We got the last installment of Oncle Hector and answered the questions in small groups. There is a Quizlet set to practice O.H. vocabulary.
|
|
Jeudi, 8 février
We answered questions about part 3 of Oncle Hector in groups of 2 or 3.
